Remote Service Delivery

Governments need to do a better job.

A Working Future will see:

  • new remote service delivery ‘one-stop shops’ established
  • a Territory Coordinator General for remote service delivery
  • improved funding arrangements.

Remote service delivery ‘one-stop shops’

Starting with 15 of our Territory Growth Towns we will put in place ‘one-stop shops’ for both Territory and Australian governments (see map below).

One person in each town will be able to answer questions about all government services and help resolve any problems. We will work with the Australian Government and communities to make sure we have got the right person in the job.

New regional teams based in Darwin and Alice Springs will help town residents to plan for the future. We want to know what people living in towns want and what their hopes are, now and in the future. Local plans will help us to put money into what local people need.

A Territory Coordinator General for remote service delivery

Red tape and other problems can slow down activity on the ground.

A new Coordinator General for remote service delivery in the Territory will be responsible for making sure everyone works together to deliver what people need.

Improved funding arrangements

At the moment, funding is provided to communities for various programs on an annual basis.

This makes it really difficult to plan for the future.

We are going to put in place a new way of allocating funding that is fair and that provides certainty for communities.
